The Gallus Group, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG), today announced that printing company Eurl Imprimerie La Tulipe has expanded its offering with the acquisition of a Gallus Labelmaster 440. The investment marks the company's first foray into the world of flexographic printing and represents a step toward business growth and market potential by complementing and diversifying its existing portfolio of HEIDELBERG offset presses.
The new Gallus Labelmaster, installed at the company's headquarters in Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria, now enables Imprimerie La Tulipe to process a wider range of substrates with first-class print quality, expand its customer base, and tap into new, profitable business areas.
The strategic investment in Gallus' Labelmaster technology is an important milestone in Imprimerie La Tulipe's growth plan and in its ambition to offer market-leading industrial packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical, food, and personal care sectors. The extensive capabilities of the Gallus installation have significantly strengthened the company's offering in the Algerian label market and equip it to make further progress, not only to address the shortage of niche packaging solutions in the Algerian market, but also to take a leading role nationwide in these commercial printing and packaging areas.
The Gallus Labelmaster series is renowned for its unrivalled price-performance ratio and also offers the company outstanding print speeds of up to 200 meters per minute with unparalleled precision, which increases Imprimerie La Tulipe's productivity and improves margins. The company's new printing press comprises eight flexographic printing stations, a cold foil unit, and a rotary die cutter, as well as the option of reverse printing on glue. However, what makes this installation unique is that it is based on Gallus's characteristic modular system, offering the company ultimate flexibility to add, replace, or remove units in the future as required. This enables a crucial level of responsiveness to adapt to business and market changes – something that is becoming increasingly important in today's challenging industrial and economic landscape.
Imprimerie La Tulipe, a subsidiary of the long-established printing service provider Dib Printing, specializes in developing specific niches in the printing market. It benefits from many years of experience with traditional printing technologies and the expertise of its founder, Amine Dib, in the field of hybrid and digital solutions. According to Dib, the team's previous experience with HEIDELBERG and their confidence in the combined expertise of Gallus and HEIDELBERG played a decisive role in the investment decision. "Together with our parent company, we can look back on almost half a century of experience working with HEIDELBERG and have achieved considerable growth and great success over the years with HEIDELBERG machines," he explains. "When it came to diversifying our portfolio and venturing into flexographic printing, this made the decision very easy for us—there was simply no other label manufacturer we would trust more than Gallus."
With its unparalleled expertise in the label sector, complemented by HEIDELBERG's global support network, Gallus ensured a smooth installation at Imprimerie La Tulipe. The new Gallus Labelmaster 440 was installed in summer 2023 and was fully operational within a few weeks – it now forms a central part of the company's daily business processes.
"As we are new to flexo technology, it was crucial for us to choose a printing press that could be easily integrated into our current processes and was quick and easy for our team to learn," adds Dib. "The expert training and support provided by Gallus, combined with the intuitive operation via the HMI touch panel, not only ensured a smooth transition into this new area, but also enabled us to achieve results almost immediately."
The Gallus Labelmaster 440 is ideal for a smooth and profitable entry into the label segment and offers a range of innovative features. It provides a high degree of automation and cloud integration, enabling remote access and diagnostics – so print service providers are already well equipped for the future.
"We are delighted to continue sharing our knowledge, expertise and, above all, our market-leading solutions with printing companies such as Imprimerie La Tulipe. This is a fantastic company that shares our commitment to growth, innovation and development," says Dario Urbinati, CEO of the Gallus Group.
"While we are seeing an increasing presence of digital technologies in the current printing landscape, the flexo market also continues to flourish. Investments such as these are an important example of this – and proof of its ongoing potential. At Gallus, we are passionate about driving the transformation to a smart, connected printing industry where conventional and digital machines work seamlessly together. Flexographic printing remains a core technology that offers countless advantages and opportunities to companies worldwide, complemented by the flexibility and adaptability of new digital solutions. We look forward to supporting Imprimerie La Tulipe on this transformative journey and seeing the positive impact the Gallus Labelmaster 440 will have on the company and its customers."
