The health and beauty division of the Stratus Packaging Group has opted for a Gallus ECS 340 in a configuration consisting of 10 flexo printing units, 4 screen printing units, 2 cutting positions, which enables them to use cold foil and lamination devices. This press, which was installed in October 2017 also has a solution developed internally to produce coupons and multilayer labels. The Gallus ECS 340 is based on a modular principle. In fact, all positions are interchangeable according to the production needs, thus the ECS 340 is extending the scope of the company towards more specific demands and very sophisticated finishing options. It prints on substrates from 50 to 250 microns without special equipment. There is another advantage of this press: with only 1.10m of paper web from one printing unit to the next, the set-up times are very fast and generate a minimum of paper waste.

A new division

In order to develop the shrink sleeve business for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry, the group acquired JPL Etiquettes in 2014. The modernization of St Priest's production site was quickly determined to meet the demands of the market. "With this new operational press since late October, we are already watching significant improvements. Automatic tracking generates significant time savings and waste gains. The color changes are extremely fast, which gives us greater flexibility in our organization and allows us better to meet the needs of the market. We will also expand our screen offering, which will allow our teams to enhance their skills, "says Stratus.

The St Priest plant employs 50 people. It is specialized in the production of adhesive labels, shrink sleeves, peel-off coupons, multilayers, ....
