Swedish printing company Nordvalls Etikett AB has ordered its fifth Gallus Labelmaster 440 Advanced – a 10-color flexographic printing press with two screen printing stations. As part of a five-year plan aimed at modernizing and increasing machine consistency, Nordvalls brought forward the installation of the fourth and most recently installed Labelmaster in order to meet increased customer demand. Now the fifth is on its way within five years.

According to Nordvalls, Gallus was chosen to achieve these goals because of the trust in the supplier relationship – a relationship that began in 1965 and has resulted in 24 printing presses being installed to date – and Gallus' ability to understand their business and vision. The decision was based on three key competitive advantages of the Labelmaster: flexibility of the printing press, high print quality, and increased efficiency – all of which enable downtime to be minimized.

The Labelmaster's modular design gives it greater flexibility, allowing Nordvalls to configure the machine exactly to its current needs, but with the option to expand it in the future. The Labelmaster's outstanding register control system ensures extremely high print quality, and the intuitive machine design with lightweight, gearless cylinders enables market-leading fast makeready times.

Patrik Jenemark, Managing Director of Nordvalls, comments: “In terms of press efficiency, we expected to achieve savings of around 7% with our existing Gallus Labelmaster presses, but we are actually achieving almost 10%. Combined with other benefits, this advantage has contributed to dramatic improvements in productivity, customer satisfaction, profitability, and, above all, a reduction in waste."

“Our history with Gallus is one of a long-standing and highly valuable customer/supplier relationship,” continues Patrik Jenemark. “In 2016, we met with Ferdi Rüesch and his team to outline our vision and business goals, and together we drew up short- and long-term plans for the printing press installations needed to handle our expected growth. The key to this process is Gallus' partnership approach, which often leads them to scale back our technological expectations and suggest machine systems that better suit our needs and save us money."

Approximately 50% of Nordvalls' jobs are in the food and beverage industry. The new Labelmaster will be installed at the production facility in Sjöbo, Sweden, in April 2022. The printing press will be used to support business growth with existing customers and to create jobs at sister companies.

With annual sales of €65 million and 160 employees, Nordvalls supplies companies in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway with high-quality, durable, printed adhesive labels. The company owes its success to its experienced and dedicated employees and strong customer relationships. Nordvalls is also convinced that its customers appreciate its corporate values, high product quality, service, and good value for money.

Ferdinand Rüesch, Anchor Shareholder at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) and Senior Vice President Global Key Accounts at Gallus, comments: "We are delighted about this new Labelmaster order from Nordvalls and the impact the technology will have on the business. For us, this is a perfect example of what can be achieved when a company works in harmony with a supplier who understands its vision and doesn't just see its immediate needs."
