My work and family commitments don't leave me with much time for hobbies, but if I do get a chance, I enjoy reading or doing a bit of sport.
You have been Managing Director of Gallus SEA since 1 September 2011. What spurs you on in this position?
My motivation is very clear – cultivating and further expanding the sales and customer service network for Gallus products and services in one of the world's most dynamic regions. I know from my own experience that Gallus offers its associates, customers and industry partners a number of outstanding benefits thanks to its customer focus, innovative product development and exceptional technical achievements. It is naturally an incentive and an objective for me to make the company the most valued partner of all players in our industry.
Have you previously held any other positions at Gallus?
I was a product manager for the company's screen printing business for five years.
What do you like about Gallus and being part of the Gallus family?
I like the Gallus corporate culture, which is based around teamwork, making balanced decisions and systematically focusing on customer needs. I also enjoy working for an owner-run family company that benefits from short and pragmatic processes.
What do you consider to be the key strengths of Gallus?
Gallus products are clearly superior, especially in terms of technology and design. I firmly believe that we are one of the most innovative companies in our field. A further strength is how easy we are to work with. The personal approach is well developed and the responsible people in all sections are easy to contact, offering good accessibility.
Gallus has a highly motivated workforce. The members of the Gallus family really enjoy their work and that makes everyday operations far easier for customers, partners and Gallus itself.
Last but not least, our products offer the best cost-benefit ratio, which makes Gallus an attractive partner for equipment, services, consumables and training.
How are the general economic situation and the label market looking in your region?
South East Asia has an extremely heterogeneous market. Some parts are currently enjoying growth that exceeds all expectations and is almost overwhelming industry players. Other regions are still waiting to take off and some are developing slowly but surely in the wake of others.
Generally speaking, we are seeing a decrease in the dependence on Western markets as the driving force behind the industry as domestic markets continue to develop and become more dynamic. This naturally opens up excellent opportunities for us.
What do you consider to be the most important factors as regards the partnership with Gallus customers in your market?
I think the characteristics required for a good partnership are universal. They include:
- trust
- reliability (in terms of both products and keeping promises)
- customer/partner focus
- contact
- commitment
- passion
How do you ensure that these customer needs are met?
We act as Gallus always does – these values are the values Gallus stands for.
