Gallus joins forces with Heidelberg at interpack 2017

The leading international trade fair in the packaging industry is taking place in Dusseldorf from 4 to 10 May. Gallus is joining forces with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) to exhibit at this fair. Industrial zero-defect production will be explored in detail under the banner “Zero-Defect Packaging”. In a production environment notably shaped by digitisation, the two companies offer their customers end-to-end process-oriented technologies geared to zero defects. This undoubtedly has a positive impact on manufacturing costs and boosts the profitability of systems. Visitors to the fair will be able to see the opportunities offered by the new digital printing systems from Gallus and Heidelberg. The Gallus Labelfire digital label printing system is more than just a digital label press. From the data file all the way to a reel ready for dispensing and shipping, this printing system produces labels printed using inkjet technology and finished in just a single production operation. Colour corrections can be mad to the files already on the press, while label versioning is supported in runs as low as one. The Gallus Labelfire delivers unbeatable print quality, as the 1200 x 1200 dpi native resolution makes the print results comparable to those of offset printing. For branded companies, this means end consumers don’t perceive any differences between short-run digital print production and large runs of conventionally produced labels.
The metallic doming process from the Gallus Screeny screen printing line also offers an innovation in packaging printing. What was previously only possible on paper substrates or cardboard packaging is now also available in plastic. A special screen printing process now enables 3D embossing effects on plastic substrates such as tube laminates and PE/PP labels. Metallic doming thus opens up new packaging design options in tactile and visual product communication.
