St. Gallen, May 2016 – Smart technologies and new digital printing systems for industrial production are opening up completely new opportunities for companies in the print media sector. As part of the presentation of the new digital product portfolio at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) under the family name "Fire", the digital converting system Gallus DCS 340, developed by Heidelberg/Gallus and Fujifilm, also receives a new name as of drupa 2016: Gallus Labelfire 340.
This digital inline converting system was already successfully launched at Labelexpo 2015 in Brussels. Gallus Labelfire 340 is the first-ever, modular, digital converting system from Heidelberg and Gallus – an inkjet printing module integrated into a Gallus machine platform, which combines the latest digital printing technology with the benefits of conventional printing and further processing technology. This new machine system – developed between Heidelberg/Gallus and Fujifilm, the leader in inkjet technology – sets new standards in label printing in terms of quality, short-run production efficiency and scope for customization. A native resolution of 1200 dpi delivers print quality that is unmatched in UV inkjet printing today. Together with the maximum speed of 50 m/min, regardless the size of the label or how many of the eight colors are in use, this digital converting system is predestined for the efficient production of short runs, versioning and individualization.
The unique, shaped inkjet print head also makes it possible to achieve seamless head stitching, resulting in a smooth print across the entire web. In addition to this superior inkjet technology, the Gallus Labelfire 340 also has conventional converting modules taken from the Gallus ECS 340, which is tried and tested a hundred times over. The Gallus Labelfire 340’s user-friendly HMI, which controls both conventional and digital modules, ensures that label printers manage and control their entire machine system with the same operating philosophy.
By combining the strengths of digital printing with an inline finishing process that has been specially optimized for digital printing, the Gallus Labelfire gives users the chance to varnish, embellish and further process labels inline – from the roll to the finished die-cut label in a single production operation. The whole system is integrated into Heidelberg’s print media workflow Prinect and could therefore support users to run a Smart Print Shop.
Coinciding with drupa in Dusseldorf, Heidelberg will also extend its drupa events to its Print Media centers for packaging and commercial printing at the company’s factory in Wiesloch-Walldorf. There Heidelberg will show its full product portfolio in over 10,000 square meters of exhibit space, and visitors will also find the world's most successful and best-selling narrow-web label press – the Gallus ECS 340 – there in hall 6.
Since its launch, the Gallus ECS 340 has been the top-selling label printing machine with short web path sold over 330 times all over the world. Installing the new high-performance matrix stripper gives the Gallus ECS 340 an additional feature that further boosts this machine’s productivity and cost efficiency. The new, innovative functions of this matrix stripper enables the machine system to produce even complex die cuts at maximum speed. Additionally, the Gallus ECS 340 machine system is convincing with its new UV flexographic printing unit with even better performance.
