World premiere of a new digital machine generation for label printing
At the Gallus Innovation Days 2014 in September, Gallus will be introducing label printers to the latest innovation for efficient short-run production – digital and conventional label production combined in a single press to deliver the very best in efficiency and flexibility. Taking label printing to the next level.
With a continuing increase in short-run label production and personalised, versioned labels, the market is currently seeing a steady shift towards digital print production. The growth potential for this type of printing is considerable. Current market projections predict steady, double-digit growth for the next ten years, while further improvements in both quality and speed are expected.
Despite this, many label printers have not yet taken the decision to introduce digital printing – in part due to the compromises that are associated with this process. The inability to print some spot colours, slower press speeds and a lack of true inline finishing and embellishment capabilities can result in additional process steps or compromises when it comes to label features. What’s more, digital printing processes can often result in less efficient production and poor compatibility with additional printing and embellishment processes.
Gallus invites you to join us as we take digital and conventional printing to the next level. This next-generation digital press will be making its world premiere at the Gallus Innovation Days 2014 from 23 to 25 September in St. Gallen. The new Gallus digital inline label printing system – developed in partnership with Heidelberg and Fujifilm – will deliver the very best in print and register quality, productivity and flexibility for label printers.
Uncompromising next-generation print and register quality
Thanks to collaboration with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and its technology partner for inkjet printing, Fujifilm, the new digital inline label printing system incorporates a printing module with next-generation inkjet print heads. The unique print head design enables several heads to be joined together for a greater print width, without visible transitions. A native resolution of 1200 dpi delivers print quality unmatched in UV inkjet printing today. All these features are combined with the speed of flexographic printing and the efficiency of digital printing. And it goes without saying that the high demands relating to register quality are also met.
Uncompromising new standard of process flexibility
The digital inline label printing system from Gallus is the first truly integrated label press with digital printing. Specially developed inks with an extended range of colours create an expanded colour space, taking UV inkjet to the next level. Digital technology paves the way for the flexibility you’ve come to expect from digital processes, with variable data, versioning and profitable short-run production. Combining the strengths of digital printing with the processes of a conventional label press optimised for digital printing enables you to embellish, varnish and finish your labels inline. Add a primer, security or foil features, varnish or lamination and (die) cutting – all inline and in a single production step, regardless of the label’s complexity.
Uncompromising productivity on a new level
Taking advantage of a single, user-friendly interface, this digital machine system finally delivers the speed, quality and consistency label printers need. The Prinect digital front end automates prepress workflows for efficient file preparation, while features such as spot colour matching, the PDF Toolbox and Prepress Manager further enhance efficiency.
Digital printing offers benefits in terms of reducing order-based fixed costs and costs for versioning and personalisation, while the conventional printing functions in this machine system open up additional embellishment options and enable inline finishing. With full integration of conventional and digital processing steps, data preparation is a simple and efficient process.
Developed jointly with Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and Fujifilm to meet the requirements of the future, this solution offers label printers the ultimate in quality, productivity and flexibility. They will no longer need to compromise in future and will be able to benefit from efficient, fully featured digital label production. Join us as we unveil this new development and present the next innovation in label printing, true to the motto “no more compromise”.
